“Volunteering with CSFP has impacted me tremendously. It has opened a network bigger than I could ever imagine. Being a CSFP mom has made me even more confident than ever about making choices when it comes to my child’s future.” April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week, and CSFP is celebrating by highlighting a few of our all-star volunteers on our social channels. We also caught up with CSFP parent and frequent volunteer Lateefah Lucky to get her perspective on how helping CSFP accomplish its mission has affected her personally. In April 2018, CSFP received a perfect 100 score from the nation’s leading charity watchdog, Charity Navigator. Just one of two education-based charities to make this list in April, we are incredibly proud of this honor, which recognizes our sustained commitment to fiscal responsibility, good governance, and best practices. Charity Navigator rates thousands of charities each year, and CSFP’s perfect score sets us in the top one percent. We are also delighted to share that CSFP has been awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating of four stars, which further underscores our responsible management and fiscal strength. In the words of Charity...
As a part of our ongoing efforts to provide access to quality education for Philadelphia children, we have been working with several local organizations on an initiative to increase awareness of and access to effective Pre-K programs in Philadelphia. Through a grant funded by the William Penn Foundation, CSFP is working to connect our schools with organizations that can help improve school-based Pre-K programs, as well as empowering parents to make informed decisions regarding Pre-K. This past month, CSFP convened a Pre-K focus group meeting of more than 20 leaders from private schools within our network and representatives from both...

Students took a trip around the world, and even climbed inside, during special geography lessons. 6abc joined us to cover the event: CSFP would like to thank the DCM for this special lesson.
Two years ago, Matt Tucker and his wife April sat down to figure out their holiday giving. After a little googling for education-based charities in the area, Matt discovered CSFP, which at the time was one of Charity Navigator’s Top Ten Charities Receiving Private Donations. The Chester County resident has been interested in education for a long time, and has deep roots in Philly. After growing up in rural Maryland and attending public school there, Matt matriculated to Drexel and, despite some short departures, has lived in the Philadelphia area ever since. With CSFP, Matt’s interests both in giving locally...

The 2,000 newest scholarship recipients were chosen from a pool of over 10,000 applications and selected through a random need-based lottery.
