Development Manager


Reports To: Vice President of Development

Status: Regular, Exempt

Schedule:  Full time; occasional evenings and weekends

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is a mid-level member of the Development team, directly reporting to the Vice President of Development with additional support to the Chief Advancement Officer in achieving the financial goals of the organization. This position is a key part of CSFP’s plan to develop strategic partnerships with corporations and individuals. This position will help oversee contributions made through the Pennsylvania education tax credit program* (“tax credits”).  

The emphasis of this position is meeting specific revenue goals for corporate and individual giving by researching, writing, communicating with, and engaging partners and prospects. The Manager is responsible for a portfolio of regular corporate contacts as well as supporting the Vice President of Development in major gift proposals and select donor events.

A top candidate for this role will possess the following skills: prospecting, account management, organization, writing, presentation, relationship-building, as well as someone who is comfortable networking and finding the connectors interested in our mission.

*The Educational Improvement Tax Credit program is administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Tax credits may be awarded to businesses and individuals that make contributions to Scholarship Organizations and/or Educational Improvement Organizations and/or Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organizations. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EITC/OSTC Fundraising

  • Lead all donor relations for corporations and individuals contributing through EITC/OSTC
  • Support CSFP leadership in the stewardship of major gifts
  • Manage a portfolio of 100+ constituents
  • Generate and submit necessary reporting and tracking documents, when relevant
  • Support Vice President of Development in donor cultivation and stewardship including administering quality, written and verbal communication with donors and prospects
  • Achieve metrics for growth through tax credit revenue
    • Responsible for finding new prospects and growing CSFP’s donor base

Corporate Partnerships and Event Management

  • Work in collaboration with Programs and Development teams to engage corporate donors in new ways
    • Initiate and implement volunteer opportunities for donors to become more connected to the CSFP mission
  • Achieve fundraising and revenue metrics set forth by the Vice President of Development for unrestricted corporate gifts, including sponsorships
  • Create a streamlined stewardship program for all corporate gifts and corporate volunteer opportunities

Development Operations and Management

  • Serve as backup to Development Operations staff in handling gift processing and donor acknowledgement when needed
  • Assist the Development team to constantly improve database management and find improved ways and platforms to operate
  • Manage the Senior Associate for Development Operations in administration related to tax credit fundraising

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

While no one candidate will possess every quality outlined for this position, a successful candidate will bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three-plus years of experience, preferably in advanced non-profit fundraising, sales, or accounting
  • Experience soliciting contributions through Pennsylvania’s EITC/OSTC programs and administration of related gifts highly preferred
  • Extremely organized with strong time management skills to accomplish goals and deadlines
  • A detail orientation with experience in donor stewardship
  • Advanced skills utilizing various software and web-based tools (i.e.: Microsoft Office, Donor Perfect)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Experience working with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative professional environment
  • Creative, self-motivated, proactive and confident
  • Strong written communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence and experience with public speaking highly preferred

 

REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS

Certain abilities to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions are required, such as:

  • Must be able to travel to within the five-county region —valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation, when necessary, is required
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a computer
  • Must be able to maneuver in an office space, including reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, copying, typing, mailing, and making phone calls
  • Must be able to assist with events, which includes lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, standing

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

CSFP offers competitive compensation packages that are commensurate with an individual’s experience and education.  This is a full-time exempt position, generally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may include evening and weekend work.  CSFP’s competitive compensation and benefits package includes:

Salary Range: $68,500 – $88,500 per year

THE ORGANIZATION

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) is a privately funded program whose mission is to provide students from low-income Philadelphia families with financial access to quality, safe, K-8th grade tuition-based schools, thereby increasing the long-term economic and social success of their children. With a small but committed staff, CSFP grants four-year, need-based partial scholarships to students from low-income Philadelphia families, all of which are awarded by random lottery. CSFP scholarships allow these students the opportunity to gain a solid foundational education that is critical to their future achievements, especially during this challenging time in education in Philadelphia.

CAMPAIGN

Beginning in 2022, Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) launched a multi-year comprehensive campaign to: extend the K-8 scholarship term through 8th grade, expand on extracurricular support programs to CSFP scholars and families, and increase sustainability in the organization’s fiscal and operational capacity. The qualified candidate will be an integral member of the campaign team and the position’s annual performance goals which will include campaign goals.
