Corporate Development Manager

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) is a privately funded program whose mission is to provide students from low-income Philadelphia families with financial access to quality, safe, K-8th grade tuition-based schools, thereby increasing the long-term economic and social success of their children. With a small but committed staff, CSFP grants eight-year, need-based partial scholarships to students from low-income Philadelphia families, all of which are awarded by random lottery. CSFP scholarships allow these students the opportunity to gain a solid foundational education that is critical to their future achievements, especially during this challenging time in education in Philadelphia.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Corporate Development Manager (CDM) will implement CSFP’s corporate giving program, focusing on the opportunities for contributions made through the Pennsylvania education tax credit program* (“tax credits”).  The CDM will build relationships with existing donors, as well as new prospects. The CDM is expected to energize team members, persuade prospects and persevere through all stages of the solicitation process. A top candidate for this role will possess the following skills: prospecting, account management, organization, writing, presentation, relationship-building, as well as someone who is comfortable networking and finding the connectors interested in CSFP’s mission.

*The Educational Improvement Tax Credit program is administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Tax credits may be awarded to businesses and individuals that make contributions to Scholarship Organizations and/or Educational Improvement Organizations and/or Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organizations.   • Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through the development of a meaningful relationship with CSFP.
  • Manage a portfolio of 100+ donors and prospects.
  • Achieve annual individual and team fundraising goals.
  • Lead donor relations for corporations and individuals contributing through the tax credit program.
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist other staff and executive volunteers with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).
  • Generate and submit necessary reporting and tracking documents
  • Incrementally grow CSFP’s donor base.
  • Collaborate with Program teams to engage corporate donors, including Initiating and implementing volunteer opportunities and cultivation/stewardship events.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

While no one candidate will possess every quality outlined for this position, a successful candidate will bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three-plus years of experience, preferably in advanced non-profit fundraising, sales, or accounting
  • Organized with strong time management skills to accomplish goals and deadlines
  • Perseverance and follow through
  • Advanced skills utilizing various software and web-based tools (i.e.: Microsoft Office, Donor Perfect)
  • Experience working with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative professional environment
  • Creative, self-motivated, proactive and confident
  • Strong written communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience soliciting six-figure contributions from corporations and/or Pennsylvania’s EITC/OSTC programs and administration of related gifts

REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS

Certain abilities to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions are required, such as:

  • Must be able to travel to within the five-county region—valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation, when necessary, is required
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a computer
  • Must be able to maneuver in an office space, including reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, copying, typing, mailing, and making phone calls
  • Must be able to assist with events, which includes lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, standing
  • CSFP currently operates in a virtual hybrid environment, with two days required in the office. 

Accessibility to the internet when working from home is required.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

CSFP offers competitive compensation packages that are commensurate with an individual’s experience and education. This is a full-time exempt position, generally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may include evening and weekend work. CSFP’s competitive compensation and benefits package includes:

Salary Range:  $75,000 – $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience
