PHILADELPHIA- Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) announced the opening of its 2022 – 2023 application season during a virtual celebration on Tuesday, September 14. This year, the number of available applications has increased 25 percent from 2,000 to 2,500. Applications for need-based, four-year K-8th grade scholarships for Philadelphia families will be open through March 1 with a priority deadline of November 15 and are available at www.csfphiladelphia.org.

CSFP hosted a virtual Spotlight Awards and Application Kickoff program to honor its 8th grade graduates from the Class of 2021, highlight student awardees, share messages from program alums, and officially open the new application period for the 2022-2023 school year. Executive Director Keisha Jordan spoke about the impact of the scholarship program, and she was joined by CSFP co-founders Evie McNiff and Ina Lipman as well as Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney to present 24 awards to rising freshman, high school graduates, CSFP parents, and Philadelphia teachers. The full program is available to view here: https://www.csfphiladelphia.org/spotlight-awards-and-application-kickoff/.

“The Spotlight Awards give us a chance to acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of our outgoing eighth grade class as we welcome the next generation of Philadelphia’s future leaders to apply for CSFP scholarships,” said Keisha Jordan, Executive Director at Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia. “This year, we were thrilled to surprise viewers with the news that we are offering more scholarships than ever to Philadelphia students this year–500 new scholarships in addition to the 2,000 we typically award. Applications for our 2,500 K-8th grade scholarships are now open as we continue to expand equitable access to safe, quality schools for Philadelphia students.”

CSFP scholarships will be awarded through a random lottery, are four years in length, need-based, and can be provided to a family for up to three children. Applications are available online at csfphiladelphia.org with a priority deadline of November 15, 2021, and a final deadline of March 1, 2022. Applications received by the priority deadline will be entered into a December lottery. All other applications will be selected in a March lottery.
