On October 25, CSFP and Urban Outfitters, Inc. hosted the “Sowing the Seeds of Future Success” Benefit Party focusing on educational innovation in the Philadelphia area. A crowd of over 300 CSFP donors, supporters, and friends attended the Benefit dinner and main program, and over 200 young professionals joined the Young Friends of CSFP for the After Party. The successful evening raised a record-breaking $4.1 million, which will support CSFP’s mission of providing scholarships to children from low-income Philadelphia families in need of safe, quality K-8th grade education.
The uniquely-designed event featured a magical setting created by the URBN and Anthropologie design teams, including ashort documentary about CSFP’s life-changing scholarships. The New York Times bestselling author Wes Moore addressed the crowd, commenting on his personal experience at tuition-based schools and the urgent need to provide more children with opportunities to succeed. Current CSFP parent Kevin Chapman also spoke, relating his children’s success after winning CSFP scholarships. Representatives from local educational leaders: the Duckworth Lab at UPenn, the Drexel University ExCITE Center, Philadelphia School Partnership, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, and the Vetri Foundaitonwere on hand to discuss exciting education innovations with the crowd.
CSFP would like to thank all who helped make this night an undeniable success, including event attendees, our generous sponsors, and especially Dick and Meg Hayne and the URBN team. Together, we are changing the future for thousands of Philadelphia children.
