What does “school choice” really mean? Is it moving to an area with a public school with high test scores? Sending your children to a magnet school? Or supplementing your child’s education with tutors, camps, and extra-curricular activities? Sharif El-Mekki, Principal of Mastery Charter School–Shoemaker Campus, explains his viewpoint on the anti-school choice sentiment expressed by people he says enact choice on a daily basis.

Hundreds of families who just won CSFP’s random K-8th grade lottery received calls on December 8. 6ABC visited a family just after they learned they would receive a K-8th grade scholarship for their children.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — “Your family has been selected for a scholarship and we wanted to call and congratulate you,” said a voice on one end of the phone line.

CSFP’s Citywide K-8th grade school fair brought families together with representatives from district, charter, private, and parochial schools together on October 22. The event provided an opportunity for families to learn about schools and meet with representatives to discuss their children’s futures. Read more on Spirit News.
