Philly K-8 School Fair Attracts 1,500 Children and Families

Oct 9, 2017

On Saturday, October 7th, CSFP and GreatPhillySchools (GPS) hosted the Philly K-8 School Fair, an inclusive event that brought over 100 diverse schools together at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School. Over 1,500 children and families attended the fair, and were able to meet one-on-one with officials from public charter, district, and private schools. The free event marked the second year for CSFP to host this citywide school fair, and the first year to collaborate with GPS on the event.

The fair focused on providing families with the necessary resources to make more informed decisions on educational options for their children. K-8th grade schools from across all sectors participated in the fair, and parents participated in workshops focused on the school selection and application process. Nicole Newman, former CSFP parent, said of the event “The internet might have all the information but parents still need people to help sort out the best environments for their individual, unique students!” Other parents echoed her sentiment.

CSFP would like to thank the parents and students who came to learn about Philadelphia schools, as well as the school admissions officers, principals, and administrators who presented at the fair. In addition, we are grateful for GreatPhillySchools’ partnership on the Fair, The Fresh Grocer and Center City District for sponsoring the event, and St. Joe’s Prep for hosting.
