Parent Ambassadors Meet for Midyear Review

Jan 13, 2017

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP)’s Parent Ambassador (PA) program was initiated this summer. We are pleased to report that this pilot program is going strong. CSFP and current PAs gathered recently to discuss program activities and developments, and to strategize ways to improve the program for the remainder of school year.

Currently, 12 parents with children in CSFP’s scholarship program serve as CSFP liaisons within their school communities as part of the PA program. The PAs attend parent nights and admissions events, connect with families already in CSFP’s program to assist with necessary paperwork regarding CSFP scholarships, share information about CSFP’s program to interested parents, and meet with their school principals regularly to see how they could serve their schools better.

At the meeting, PAs provided feedback to CSFP staff on their experiences in the pilot program and shared best practices for reaching out to their school communities and coordinating with school personnel. This collaboration and information sharing is central to the role of the PA program for Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia: we hope to learn what works best for our families and school communities, so we can continue to make a positive impact on children’s lives. Plans are underway to expand the program to at least another 25 schools. Stay tuned for continued updates about this new initiative.
