This December, Charity Navigator, a renowned, independent charity evaluator, gave CSFP a perfect score on all of its metric rankings. CSFP was one of only three education-focused nonprofits in the entire nation to receive this honor. CSFP also made Charity Navigator’s top 10 list for Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions. Highlighted for our efficiency in implementing our program, this honor is described, in Charity Navigator’s own words:
Most charities derive large chunks of revenue from earned income, membership fees, and government contracts and grants. Ranked by overall [Charity Navigator] score, these 10 excellent charities draw revenue solely from direct and indirect public support. They report no government funding, no membership fees, and no revenue from earned income. As a result, more than 95% of their total revenue comes from private contributions, which makes the efficiency of their fundraising operations all the more impressive.
CSFP is committed to maximizing the impact of our donor’s investments and ensuring the strongest outcomes for the children we serve. We are entirely privately-funded, and efficient. CSFP receives no governmental funding, sells no goods nor services, and applications to our program are free to all interested families. Though we may seem like a large organization, CSFP is a small shop. Our full-time staff of 10 supports 5,300 children at 160 private schools.
CSFP is proud of this high ranking by Charity Navigator. However, we will not rest on our laurels. With thousands more low-income Philadelphia families desperate for quality K-8th grade schools for their children, CSFP pledges to work even harder in 2017. We have big plans to help children achieve success in the next year: stay tuned for updates.
