July 24th marked the final day of CSFP’s four-session Math and Writing Tutorial. The course was designed to help prepare rising eighth and ninth grade students for the upcoming school year. Philadelphia teachers conducted four, three and a half hour sessions during the month of July at Friends Select School. This year we were also excited to offer a Financial Literacy Workshop for the parents of participants provided by representatives of National Penn Bank. This workshop taught basic banking practices and was available in both Spanish and English.
Parents indicated that the workshop helped their child develop both academic and social skills, and students expressed such enthusiasm and suggested that future workshops run longer!
CSFP would like to thank our supporters, Friends Select School, and National Penn Bank for helping make the 2014 Math and Writing Tutorial a success. We hope to provide more programs like this to our students!
