About the Scholarship

The 2009 CSFP new scholarship application process is now closed. All 800 scholarships were awarded by a random computerized lottery.

CSFP will be accepting new K-8th grade scholarship applications for awards that will begin in fall 2010 in November. Please check our website at that time. We encourage all families that might not have "won" the lottery to reapply at that time. CSFP appreciates your continued interest and recognizes the need for more K-8th grade scholarships. Please be assured that we will do all that we can this year to raise additional funds to help meet this extraordinary demand for tuition support.

SPECIAL ALERT - CSFP needs your help to continue to provide scholarships!!!!

We have just heard that the State of PA is considering cutting a program that allows us to raise money for your Children's Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) scholarship. It is called the PA Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Your help in saving this program is very important.  Please take a moment and send an email or letter to your state representative asking them not to cut the EITC program.  Please do it today!!

To find out the name and address of your state representative, please click on the link below and type in your zip code on the top left corner. Please copy their address below and mail them your letter.

Dear Senator/Representative (fill in name),

I have learned that on Wednesday May 6, 2009 the Pennsylvania Senate passed the Republican version of the 2009-2010 Budget (SB 850) which includes a drastic cut to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

My child (or children), (insert name), currently receives a scholarship to attend (name of school) from Children?s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP).  CSFP raises funds for thousands of much needed scholarships every year from companies using the EITC.

Please, we urge you to keep the EITC program intact and resist any efforts to reduce and or eliminate the credits now offered to the generous companies that support scholarships like ours.  The annual budget of the entire EITC program is relatively modest and allows thousands of low-income children a chance to get a quality education each year.  Please do not harm this important legislation.

Thank you
