The Pennsylvania legislature enacted and passed
the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Act (EITC). This
legislation provides Pennsylvania companies with a unique opportunity
to help students from low-income families in the Philadelphia community
attend private and parochial schools.
Businesses can contribute to Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia
and similar organizations for two consecutive years to receive a
tax credit equal to 90% of their contributions, up to a maximum of
$200,000 annually. While many newly formed educational organizations
statewide are seeking corporate donations through the EITC, CSFP
is in a unique position to generate and leverage contributions.
The EITC legislation has served as a model for other states. Florida
recently passed a similar legislative bill and the U.S. House of
Representatives is currently considering similar tax credit legislation.
