We know how wonderful and challenging raising a child can be. So we've assembled some resources that hopefully you can take advantage of. The following is a list of organizations that can serve our current scholarship recipients, parents, our alumni currently in high school, as well as families who were not chosen through our scholarship lottery.
For parents with children attending a Philadelphia public school, scroll to the bottom to read about some groups that limit their services to public school students.

Philabundance is the region's largest hunger-relief and food bank organization. Philabundance's Community Food Centers allow low-income residents to shop for healthy and fresh food. The Fresh for All program brings free fresh fruits and vegetables to underserved neighborhoods in a farmer's market environment. |

| The Center for Literacy provides free family literacy programs and adult literacy tutoring as well as GED workshops, adult basic education in a varierty of subjects, English as a Second Language classes, and workforce education. | |
| Mighty Writers is a free afterschool and evening writer's workshop for Philadelphia kids ages 7-17. The free workshops are often conducted by authors and veteran writers and encourage students to learn to express themselves in creative ways. Workshops have names like Girl Power Poetry and Front Stoop Stories: Neighborhood Storytelling. | |

| The Free Library of Philadelphia has slew of free programs and services for all Philadelphians. From online homework help for students to afterschool and summer programs (like Behind the Screens and Science in the Summer). The Library also does a Sundays on Stage theater program for families throughout the spring and summer. | |
| Steppingstong Scholars is a program that helps prepare urban students for admission to elite private, independent, college-preparatory schools. The program supports students through admissions and then during the school year by providing mentoring, tutoring, summer programs, and college admissions assistance. | |
| The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia's programs are supervised full-time by Philadelphia Police Officers and civilian staff. The PAL has free sports leagues for everything from basketball to bowling to track and field. The PAL centers are located around the city and also have educational and cultural programs. | |
| Achieveability is a program that strives to help low-income parents and families end the cycle of poverty. Specifically, the program provides housing and supportive services to parents who want to further their higher education. | |
| Settlement Music School is the largest community school of the arts in the United States. The school provides 10,000 weekly services of individual lessons, classes and activities in music, dance and visual arts to children and adults without regard to age, race or financial circumstances. Settlement provides a wide range of programs for preschool, school age children, adults and seniors. | |
| Outward Bound Philadelphia provides summer outdoor leadership programs for middle and high schoolers that strengthen and empower students to experience the world outside of what they already know. Merit-based scholarships make these programs available to low-income students. | |

The City Heros Program run by City Year is a weekend leadership development, social awareness, and community service program for high school-aged youth. City Heros City Heroes learn how to lead their peers and other community members to tackle real community issues through service, action groups, and other community-based initiatives. |

| The Cadence Cycling Foundation welcomes all kids, ages 9-18 to discover the possibilities that the sport of cycling have to offer. Life skills, such as goal setting, discipline, teamwork, commitment, etc., are developed through cycling. |

Breakthrough is a six-year academic program that builds a path from middle school to college for low-income students from Philadelphia’s public schools. Breakthrough also inspires talented high school and college students to become educators and engaged citizens by giving them responsibility for teaching in the program. Students must be in 6th grade attending one of the partnering public or charter schools to apply. |

Philadelphia Futures prepares students from low-income families to enter and succeed in college by providing mentoring, academic enrichment, college guidance, and financial incentives. The core Sponsor-A-Scholar program provides students from neighborhood high schools with the critical support and resources they need to achieve their dream of a college education. Any neighborhood high school student is welcome to apply. |
