On December 12th, the Pennsylvania Society held its 2009 annual dinner in NYC and awarded its "Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement" to H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest. A noted philanthropist and media entrepreneur, his accomplishments on behalf of so many organizations are legendary. The award winner has the opportunity to select a charitable organization to which the Society will donate $50,000.
This year, Children's Scholarship Fund Philadelphia was one of two charitable organizations selected by Mr. Lenfest. Before an audience of 1,500 statewide business and political leaders, we were presented with a $25,000 check and recognized for our service to the educational needs of Philadelphia’s low-income children. We are grateful to Mr. Lenfest for his continued support and confidence in the work of Children's Scholarship Fund Philadelphia, as well as the Pennsylvania Society for its generous gift made in his honor.
