Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia will be issuing 700 new, four year, kindergarten through 8th grade need-based scholarships to add to the 3,000 students we currently serve. Our scholarship program has reinforced the critical role that high quality, early education makes in combating poverty and improving the lives of children, their families and communities throughout Philadelphia.
CSFP will be celebrating the newest scholarship winners, together with their families on Thursday, June 3rd at the Main Building, Drexel University, 3141 Chestnut Street, from 10:00-11:00 AM. Vicki Phillips, U.S. Director of Education – College Ready, of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be our CSFP Citizen of the Year and guest speaker. Vicki is the former PA Secretary of Education under Governor Rendell. A dedicated and committed leader in the school reform movement, Vicki has maximized educational opportunities for children across the country and has positively impacted millions of lives. Congratulations and thank you for coming to see the success of our CSFP students in Philadelphia.
CSFP has been fortunate to have the support of many local corporations, foundations and individuals. In particular, we want to thank our major corporate sponsors for supporting the educational needs of Philadelphia youth. We are pleased to announce that the ACE Group is CSFP’s 2010 Corporate Citizen of the Year. CSFP is grateful for the wonderful partnership and help that the ACE Group has provided in assuring that many more low-income Philadelphia students gain access to quality learning environments. We would also like to extend a very special thanks to: Wawa, PNC, Aramark, Verizon Wireless, PECO, Comcast, Macy’s, URBN, AmerisourceBergen, Airgas, Mass Marketing Insurance Group, Beneficial Savings Bank, SKF, MedRisk, SEI Investments, SAP, Philadelphia Contributionship, Bank of New York, Towers Perrin and Unisys for their continued generous financial support and leadership.
